The Story of Valbuena No. 5
Valbuena No. 5 is a remarkable wine from Spain’s Duero region, made primarily from the local Tinto Fino grape (also known as Tempranillo), which makes up 96% of the blend, complemented by 4% Merlot. The wine undergoes an extensive five-year ageing process before release, with time spent both in oak and in bottle. During the first year, it is aged in new American oak barrels, allowing it to develop depth and character.
What Makes Valbuena No. 5 Special?
The grapes come from vines averaging 33 years old, offering a rich and layered flavor profile. The wine is full-bodied and structured, yet retains a fresh tone thanks to the Tempranillo, achieving a beautiful balance. Expect aromas of violets and vanilla, alongside notes of blackberries and exotic wood.
