Nikka Coffey Grain is crafted using two Coffey stills (named after the inventor Aeneas Coffey). These stills were imported from Scotland in 1963 and are now housed at the Miyagikyo distillery. Compared to modern column stills, these older versions produce a whisky with greater flavor and complexity. Grain whisky is typically used as a base for blended whisky, making it unusual to bottle and sell it on its own. Once you taste Coffey Grain, you'll understand why Nikka chose to do so.
